The students are using Trello as a project Planning Tool and have started taking responsibility for individual projects as well as group ones.  Your child will be happy to show this to you.

They only have 6 weeks left to plan, film and edit - what a great challenge!

Setting up Filming Schedule

Ms Fa'a introduced the steps to setting up a filming schedule... you will need to do this by Friday.

  1. Pre-plan your time. Create a timetable.

List of Venues
Time needed
Equipment needed
Props, costumes
E.g. Cenotaph
Scene 5, Scene 7
Camera, mic, stepladder

  1. Put the HIGH priority scenes in first - so the scenes that are a)very important b) definitely can't be filmed at school or at home. Factor in traveling time, and then plan how long you will spend shooting at each place, depending on the length of the scene.

  1. Avoid accidentally being too much of a perfectionist on the day, and spending too long on one scene. E.g. you don't want to spend 2 hours at one place getting a scene completely perfect, then realise that you've run out of time to shoot the other scenes.

  1. Print out multiple copies of timetable on the day, so everyone can have a copy.

  1. BUT have one person whose job it is to keep an eye on time, and make sure that everyone understands that it's important to listen to the timekeeper.

Mrs LP's Workshop on Story Arcs and Storyboarding

Remember your To-Do list after today's workshop:

1. Complete a story arc for your film.
2. Use it to agree on a general storyline to drive your script.
3. Begin storyboarding and writing the script.

Here's the video on storyboarding we looked at today. Again, I recommend checking out his other videos on short films, as they're all very helpful.

Wonderful to see most of you at the meeting with the film organisers today.
What a lot of great information they shared with us.

The relevant information is being put up on this blog.  Please check it out this weekend and see if this is still something you want to be involved in.  If you decide it's not for you this year, please email Mrs Dunn at before Sunday lunch to let us know.

Ms L-P, Ms Fa'a and Ms Dunn are meeting on Sunday afternoon to decide the best way to organise things so that each and everyone of you can be involved in this GREAT learning opportunity. That means there will be films for the competition and for the Raroa Short Film Night.

We will email you on Sunday evening with our cunning plan!!!
